Crabby Crabberson

Tilda was very crabby last night and this morning, no doubt thanks to overstimulation and lack of sleep. She and Elena woke up at 6:15 today (early enough to watch Thunderbirds!), but she cried from roughly 7:30 until 8, at which point even she realized that she needed to go back to sleep for a while.
We had a lazy day, apart from riding my bike to the bakery to get our customary baguette, instead of driving as we usually do. Both Tilda and George needed to be entertained later in the day, and Tilda’s suggestion was a combined bike ride/dog walk at Gardiners Creek. This involved using the bike rack to transport my bike, which was the first time I’d done that since bringing the rack and the bike home from the store 18 months ago. As the bike rack blocks the back door of the station wagon, and since George rides in the back of the car, this was a somewhat complex operation:
- 1. put George in the back of the car
- 2. attach bike rack to the towbar with allen key
- 3. take all accessories off bike that are likely to become airborne at 60 km/h
- 4. put bike on rack and secure with bungee cords
- 5. load Tilda and accessories into the car
- 6. do this in reverse when reaching the dog park
- 7. do it all again when leaving the dog park and arriving home
Getting Tilda in and out of the bike seat without dropping her and/or the bike is tricky, and made picking up George’s poo even more fun than usual.
I did not take any photos of this excursion, as my hands were a bit full.
I’d do it again!
