Easter at Canadian Bay

Tilda at Canadian Bay

We had a very busy Easter this year. Tilda was awake before 7, excited about looking for eggs. She agreed to go back to sleep for a couple hours, but she wasn’t actually going back to sleep, so I got up to help with the search and then headed back to bed myself.

Tilda and I think that it’s time that she learned to ride a bike without training wheels, so I bought a bike for her on ebay. The seller lives in Mt Eliza, which is at the top of the Mornington Peninsula. We went to pick up the bike today (after the obligatory pre-trip McDonald’s breakfast), and stayed for a few hours at Canadian Bay, the nearest beach. Then it was time for ice cream and the drive home.

The bike didn’t just look big – it was actually bigger than advertised (20″ instead of 17″) and much too big for Tilda. So I’ve raised everything on her 12″ bike and taken off the training wheels. We had a brief attempt at the park, but we were both too tired to really tackle it. Tilda’s first task will be learning to ride in a straight line.
