Made it

We made it to Canada, and now we’re both sick.
The trip itself was very easy, and Tilda was a delightful travelling companion. She watched tv and movies for most of the flight from Melbourne to LA. She wasn’t too interested in most of the food she received, of course – eventually a flight attendant went up to business class and brought her back some plain toast.
I was feeling quite miserable for that flight, as I came down with some sort of flu on Sunday evening. This meant that I didn’t sing in our last Shostakovich concert on Monday night, and I did appreciate not having to rush around the night before our trip. On the flight I was coughing a lot (which must have thrilled my fellow passengers) and using a substantial fraction of the box of kleenex that I packed at the last minute. It probably made the flight easier for me that I just felt like sleeping, and fortunately Tilda didn’t need much of my attention. I managed to be ambulatory when I needed to be, and Tilda got enough sleep on the first flight that she wasn’t comatose during our time at LAX. She slept for the whole flight from LA to Toronto.
We were met in Toronto by Andrea and Tony, and by my mom who came by to see us for 5 minutes before we were whisked away to Andrea and Tony’s place in Simcoe.
Tilda started feeling warm last night, and she’s obviously not well today, although as I type this she’s gone off to the playground/water park. We’ve decided to reschedule the trip to Niagara Falls, going next week instead of tomorrow, even though Tilda promised that she would be well enough as she sat there in a sweaty lump.
It’s warm (30-ish) and humid here, so it’s like having a humidifier on all the time, and I’m sure we’ll be healthy soon, and I hope not everyone we know has to catch this.
Tilda whispered “I’ll be big sister” in her sleep last night, so she’s obviously thinking about her friends.
