These are the flowers that the real estate agent brought around this morning before the auction, to thank us for our help during the last few weeks of twice-weekly open houses. I don’t think I was particularly helpful, but I did tidy up enough not to embarrass myself, and I didn’t scrawl anything on the walls in blood or make haunted house sound effects.
My efforts were rewarded – the house was sold for $605,000 to an investor who would be happy for us to stay on. Hooray for rich people! Tilda overheard me effusively thanking the agent for calling with the news, and then she kept telling me how “fantastic” it was that we got to stay. She also said that she was so happy that she almost had tears in her eyes.
I am very, very relieved that I don’t have to move in the next few months, and even more relieved that I don’t have to look for a new (dog-friendly) place to live. Tilda can still walk to school next year! We can still have a fireplace! I can plant tomatoes! Andrea and Tony won’t have to sleep in Tilda’s bed when they visit!
Of course, it didn’t take long before I started thinking things like – I guess I really do have to pull those weeds! Another summer without proper air conditioning! I wonder if a branch from the golden elm will fall down and kill us all!
In other news, I encouraged Tilda to try doing the monkey bars two at a time, which she’s pretty good at. I do feel somewhat responsible when she misses and falls – with that extra swinging, she’s much more horizontal when she comes down, and occasionally it isn’t pretty.
(Don’t worry, she doesn’t fall in this movie!)

Pretty bunch, the flowers and the girls, and of course I am biased.
