Putting down roots

I’ve been a bit crazy with the homemaking this week, reattaching myself to the house. I went out and bought tomato plants, peas, and marigolds yesterday. Having left it so late in the season, I was able to buy some nice big tomato plants. (I did only plant them in pots, so I may not yet feel entirely settled.)
Despite the wonderful educational opportunities presented, I did not invite Tilda and Phoebe to help me with the planting, as I suspected it would quickly degenerate into arguments over shovels and watering cans. Fortunately it suddenly started raining, and they decided to change into bathing suits.
The warm spring weather undoubtedly has something to do with all of this, but I’ve also been baking a lot of bread and muffins, and I spent over an hour this afternoon vacuuming everything I could find, including venetian blinds and keyboards. Hopefully this burst of energy will last a while longer – I could get a lot done.
