Library bags

Phoebe turned 6 yesterday, and I decided to make her a library bag to replace the state-issued blue bag.

Phoebe's library bag

Knowing that Tilda would demand one as well, I bought enough fabric for two. I made the red bag on Monday, for Phoebe, as Tilda is always telling me that red is Phoebe’s favourite colour. Not wanting a major battle, I gave Tilda the option of choosing whether she wanted the red bag, or a yellow bag that I still had to make. She chose the red bag. Later that evening she told me that she would apologize to Phoebe for taking the red bag, because even though red is Phoebe’s favourite colour she wanted the red one more than the yellow one. Knowing that Tilda and Phoebe can manufacture arguments out of thin air, I suggested that she keep the apology in reserve until Phoebe actually complained about who got what colour.

Tilda's library bag

I made the yellow bag on Tuesday. Tilda came home from school and said that both bags were good but she still preferred the red one, which was okay with me since the yellow bag had benefited from my experience making the red one, and seemed like a better one to give as a gift.

Ready to blow out the candles

As we wrapped Phoebe’s presents on Wednesday, Tilda settled on the yellow bag, because it’s a lighter colour. I’m pleased that she chooses bags because they’re lighter; if she’s judging people by their skin colour these days, at least she keeps it to herself.

Phoebe's party

Of course, the library bag was really for Yvonne. Phoebe preferred the Playdoh pet grooming salon that we gave her.

Hello Kristine, so nice to follow your activities. I found a picture of us in FG15, must have been physchem 240. It prompted me to search. What a find. Today, I finally had the courage to login.
