Walking at night

Posted on | March 16, 2008 | No Comments

Since it has been so, so, so, so, so, so unrelentingly hot here lately, I’ve taken George for walks a couple of times after Tilda’s gone to sleep.  But don’t tell Tilda that – if she discovered that I entrusted her care to her capable (albeit sleeping) grandparents, she might not trust me enough to ever fall asleep again.

Spider in the underpass

Tonight I came back at the end of the walk to get my camera, so that I could take pictures of a spider in the underpass under Station Street.

It seems to have been a Garden Orb-Weaving Spider.

I was lucky to have George there to protect me in the dark.  We saw a fox in that underpass once!

My bodyguard

The web was anchored by a strand that went to the ground.  Unfortunately, as we left George ran right through that strand, and the spider was left in a bit of a web taco.
