Yesterday I finished that quilt that I’m making for the Art Fair at Tilda’s school.
Needless to say, it took about twice as long to make as expected. The biggest problem was how I decided to quilt it, with free motion quilting within each of the blocks, as well as straight lines outlining the blocks. Every time I finished quilting a block I had to stop and lock off the threads before moving to the next one, giving me an opportunity to decide whether I really wanted to do another block. And sometimes I didn’t.
I took it into school today and handed it to Claudia, the art teacher who’s organizing the fair. It all happened so fast. Fortunately I will have to get it back to sew on a label. (I’ve cleverly ordered a bunch of labels embroidered with my name, so that I won’t have to embroider them by hand any more. Or at least not for 9 more quilts.)
I’m not too sad to see it go – it was never going to be mine. I am happy with how it turned out.
